Roman Reigns now finds himself as the WWE Universal Champion. New Women’s Champions were also crowned as Charlotte and Ronda Rousey won the top prizes of their respective brands. Seth Rollins also managed to win the Intercontinental Championship with a little help from the returning Dean Ambrose.

Here are 5 of the biggest winners and losers coming out of ‘The Biggest Party of the Summer’.

#5 Winner - The Miz

In a creative masterstroke, The Miz picked up the win over longtime rival Daniel Bryan in controversial fashion, with the use of brass knuckles. This result protects Daniel Bryan, while also elevating The Miz as he now has bragging rights over Bryan.

This rivalry will surely continue for months to come, and it was good to see that the WWE went for long term booking by having The Miz come out on top in their first battle in classic heel fashion.

#4 Loser - Alexa Bliss

Alexa Bliss finds herself in a complicated situation coming out of SummerSlam. Although a former 5 time Women’s Champion, the manner in which she was defeated by Rousey on Sunday does not suggest she is going to be holding that belt anytime soon.

This feels like the end of a phase in Bliss’ career, and now she will be expected to spend a few years in the mid-card of the Women’s division before she can make another main event run.

#3 Winner - Finn Balor

After spending months floundering in mid-card hell, Finn Balor had something to cheer about on Sunday as the Irish superstar brought back his ‘Demon King’ persona to the WWE. Balor has had a tough time since his injury which forced him to vacate his Universal Championship a few years ago.

But with this victory at SummerSlam, he will be expected to use his new found momentum to bring his career back on track. Expect him to get involved in a high profile feud this week on Raw.

#2 Loser - Carmella

Carmella finds herself in a similar situation to Alexa Bliss. WWE wasted no time in making it clear that Becky would be feuding with Charlotte for the SmackDown women’s championship next by having her turn heel after the match.

This leaves Carmella staring at a number of potential mid-card feuds. Unlike Bliss, Carmella does not have the pedigree or popularity to keep herself relevant without challenging for the championship. The next few months are going to be make or break for the self proclaimed ‘Princess of Staten Island’.

#1 Winner - Becky Lynch

It is hard to come out of a pay-per-view as a winner when you end up getting pinned for the Women’s Championship. But that is what Becky Lynch managed to pull off at SummerSlam. After losing to Charlotte, she snapped at her former best friend, and as a result turned heel for the first time in her WWE career.

This is something the fans have been craving for a long time, and judging by their reaction to Becky’s attack on Charlotte, a world championship run might not be too far off in the Irish Lash-kicker’s future. She was easily the biggest winner coming out of SummerSlam.
