Digimon Survive will include a roster confirmed to be around 100 Digimon, which is not very many considering just how many Digimon there are (there are over 1400 in total!). Many of the Digimon games have an available roster somewhere in the hundreds, so it seems Digimon Survive focuses more on the narrative choices and survival aspect, rather than the abundance of monster collecting. A player’s choices will affect their human companions and Digimon, possibly their Digivolution line. This means there will be some dynamic outcome of what a player’s available roster will be. Though 100 Digimon might seem like a small number in comparison, the developer can issue important roles to some of the more popular Digimon that might be available, fleshing them out as important side characters.

Patamon

In Digimon, Patamon is very much a fan favorite. Debuting in the original Digimon Adventure as T.K.’s partner, this Digimon had a tough time trying to Digivolve, until it was pushed to the edge and finally did so to Angemon. No one would expect a flying pig to Digivolve into an Angel, but it was necessary in the show to triumph over the menacing Devimon. With Patamon available, one could assume that surely Angemon, and possibly its cooler Ultimate form MagnaAngemon, would be included as well. Angemon is also the only Digimon partner in season 1 to die and come back as an egg, something that could be mirrored in a game with heavy consequences as Digimon Survive.

Seadramon

Seadramon was first encountered as an enemy very early on in season 1 and has a pretty standard Digivolution line, all of which have been encountered throughout the series. Seadramon Digivolves from Betamon as Michael’s partner in season 2 when he helps Mimi. Later in season 1, Joe and T.K. encounter MegaSeadramon and defeat it when Joe’s Digimon Digivolves into Zudomon. MetalSeadramon, the Mega evolution, appeared towards the end of Digimon season 1 as one of the 4 Dark Masters. Seadramon and its evolution line are iconic classics in the Digimon series and would be a very welcome addition to Digimon Survive.

Devimon

Devimon was the first main villain that the Digidestined had to overcome in season 1. Devimon is the antithesis of Angemon and a very evil and powerful Champion-level Digimon. After his death in season 1, the Digidestined run into the Rookie-level Demidevimon, a mischievous flying devil head that tries to ruin the Digidestined. It isn’t uncommon for a Digimon and its entire evolution line to be included within a game title. Devimon’s Ultimate form MarineDevimon is shown in battle footage in Digimon Survive, so the classic baddie could definitely make an appearance, and possibly have a huge influence much like in the anime.

Andromon

Andromon was a recurring ally in season 1 of the series. At first, he was afflicted with a Black Gear that made him evil, but he was cured thanks to the Digidestined. Andromon is a mech-type Digimon and an android-looking character of Ultimate-level. He is very knowledgeable and helps out throughout the series. Andromon usually makes an appearance in some of the more desolate areas of the Digital World. Digimon Survive has shown to be located in quite a desolate area, which would make Andromon fit in perfectly.

Leomon

As Digimon Survive is supposedly the darkest game of the franchise, no other classic Digimon belongs in this game more than Leomon. With the heart of a lion, Leomon has been the noble ally of the main characters in just about every iteration. Tragically, Leomon (and his other forms) is also the one character who seems to be killed off time and time again. Digimon Survive emphasizes survival and choice, and with Leomon’s track record, he would make a perfect potential plot point for players to mess around with.

Digimon Survive is currently in development for PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One.
