The promotion was finally able to leave The ThunderDome earlier this year and has returned to their hectic schedule after more than a year locked in one location.

Throughout the last year, WWE has been forced to trim down their roster with many of their biggest names being released over the past 10 months. The likes of Braun Strowman, Bray Wyatt, Nia Jax, Keith Lee and Karrion Kross have all departed the company in 2021.

Whilst several of the biggest names have left WWE, there are interestingly still a small number of current superstars who are yet to wrestle a match in 2021.

#5. Current WWE Superstar Paige

Paige’s last match for WWE came back in December 2017, when the former Divas Champion was injured at a house show. Whilst Paige continued to appear on WWE TV long after her injury, she was forced to officially retire in April 2018.

WWE has been creative with the former Champion over the past three years as Paige has been seen as an on-screen authority figure on SmackDown as well as the manager of The Kabuki Warriors.

Paige’s last appearance for the company came back in March 2020 when she announced that Bayley would defend her title in a six-way elimination match at WrestleMania 36.

The Anti-diva was originally supposed to appear at the show in person but after some travel issues prevented this, she appeared via Skype.

This means that Paige hasn’t appeared on WWE TV for more than a year, and hasn’t wrestled in almost four years.

The British star has teased that their could be coming in January next year and it could be a surprise return at The Royal Rumble. Paige is still contracted to WWE until June 2022 and given recent surprise returns to the company, Paige could easily be next.

Paige has been pushing to get cleared following her neck injury almost four years ago - especially inspired by Edge’s return after nearly a decade - and 2022 could finally be her year.

#4. Current WWE Superstar Titus O’Neil

Titus O’Neil is a former Tag Team Champion in WWE, but hasn’t really been pushed since he was the leader of Titus Worldwide.

In recent years, Titus has taken the role of an ambassador for WWE and recently made headlines for having a school named after him. The Thaddeus M. Bullard Academy at Sligh Middle Magnet School in Tampa, FL was officially unveiled last month and is seen as a huge honor for the current Superstar.

The former Prime Time Player last wrestled for WWE more than a year ago but was last seen on WWE TV earlier this year when he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as a recipient of the Warrior Award. Titus became the first current WWE Superstar to receive this honor.

O’Neil was also chosen to be one of the hosts of this year’s WrestleMania alongside Hulk Hogan.

Titus is still seen as an active Superstar, and often wrestles when he is called upon, even though he hasn’t wrestled on TV for more than a year.

#3. Current WWE Superstar Gable Steveson

Olympic Gold Medalist Gable Steveson could be the future of WWE, but he is yet to be officially unveiled to the WWE Universe.

Steveson made the move over to WWE after winning gold at the recent Tokyo Olympics, and it didn’t take long for him to make an impact.

It was revealed back in September that the star had signed a three-year deal with WWE before he was later included in the annual draft.

Despite not appearing on WWE TV at the time and only being contracted to the company for around a month, Gable was drafted to RAW as part of the annual draft. The draft took place more than a month ago and despite there being rumors that WWE already had some huge plans for Steveson, he is still yet to appear.

Steveson’s contract also allows him to finish his University education while part of WWE.

At the time of writing the current speculation is that Gable will be part of next year’s WrestleMania, where the former Olympian will finally be able to make his debut as part of the company.

#2. Current WWE Superstar Brian Kendrick

an Kendrick - excuse us, THE Brian Kendrick - is still an active member of the WWE roster even though he hasn’t wrestled for more than a year.

The former Cruiserweight Champion made his debut in the business more than 20 years ago and is semi-retired at present after taking up a role as a producer backstage in WWE.

Kendrick was most recently seen as an active talent on 205 Live, where his last match came in October 2020 where he teamed with Mansoor in a victory over Chase Parker and Matt Martel.

In March 2021 it was revealed that Kendrick had transitioned into a backstage role and his match on October 30th, 2020 was seen as his semi-retirement match.

Kendrick has made it clear that he is only semi-retired and still wrestles on a part-time basis. The former Champion also works as a promoter since he currently owns and operates his own promotion called Brian Kendrick’s Pro Wrestling.

At the age of 42, it appears that Kendrick is now starting to wind down his wrestling career and think about life outside of the ring.

#1. WWE Official Sonya Deville

Sonya Deville lost her match to Mandy Rose at SummerSlam last August, which meant that she was fired from WWE.

Deville and Rose were originally set to face off in a hair vs hair match at SummerSlam but this was later changed to a Loser Leaves WWE match instead.

The former Tough Enough star then went on hiatus from the company whilst she sorted out a number of personal issues, before returning earlier this year.

Since Deville’s return to the company, she has been working as a WWE Official alongside Adam Pearce and hasn’t had to step foot in a WWE ring.

As part of her recent feud with Naomi, Deville has booked in a match, but instead replaced herself with Shayna Baszler at the last minute.

Deville has been enjoying her time on the sidelines over the past few months and since Pearce was attacked by Brock Lesnar she has been in full control of the company.

Deville returned to the company on New Year’s Day and despite being on-screen for the past 10 months, she hasn’t wrestled a match.
